I think Nissan could have a chance of scooping up Mitsubishi, and Honda could probably scoop up Suzuki. That only leaves Mitsuoka, who Nissan could probably also take over.

I could see Toyota eventually buying Subaru from FHI; Mazda getting taken by some foreign automaker, maybe Chinese; and Mitsubishi doing something else (liquidating, becoming a contract manufacturer that builds cars for other people, something). Where that leaves Suzuki, I don’t know - they won’t drop the car business totally, because of India, but that also probably isn’t quite enough to make someone else want them.
